Change Your Thinking

It will take just 37 seconds to read this and change your thinking..

Two men, both seriously ill, occupied the same hospital room.

One man was allowed to sit up in his bed for an hour each afternoon to help drain the fluid from his lungs.

His bed was next to the room's only window.

The other man had to spend all his time flat on his back.

The men talked for hours on end.

They spoke of their wives and families, their homes, their jobs, their involvement in the military service, where they had been on vacation..

Every afternoon, when the man in the bed by the window could sit up, he would pa ss the time by describing to his roommate all the things he could see outside the window.

The man in the other bed began to live for those one hour periods where his world would be broadened and enlivened by all the activity and color of the world outside.

The window overlooked a park with a lovely lake.

Ducks and swans played on the water while children sailed their model boats. Young lovers walked arm in arm amidst flowers of every color and a fine view of the city skyline could be seen in the distance.

As the man by the window described all this in exquisite details, the man on the other side of the room would close his eyes and imagine this picturesque scene.

One warm afternoon, the man by the window described a parade passing by.

Although the other man could not hear the band - he could see it in his mind's eye as the gentleman by the window portrayed it with descriptive words.

Days, weeks and months passed.

One morning, the day nurse arrived to bring water for their baths only to find the lifeless body of the man by the window, who had died peacefully in his sleep.

She was saddened and called the hospital attendants to take the body away.

As soon as it seemed appropriate, the other man asked if he could be moved next to the window. The nurse was happy to make the switch, and after making sure he was comfortable, she left him alone.

Slowly, painfully, he propped himself up on one elbow to take his first look at the real world outside.

He strained to slowly turn to look out the window besides the bed.

It faced a blank wall.

The man asked the nurse what could have compelled his deceased roommate who had described such wonderful things outside this window.

The nurse responded that the man was blind and could not even see the wall.

She said, 'Perhaps he just wanted to encourage you.'

Epilogue:

There is tremendous happiness in making others happy, despite our own situations.

Shared grief is half the sorrow, but happiness when shared, is doubled.

If you want to feel rich, just count all the things you have that mo ney can't buy.

'Today is a gift, that is why it is called The Present.'

Lawyers... Oh Lawyers

A man went to his
lawyer and told him "My neighbor owes me $500.00 and he
doesn't want to pay up. What should I do???

"Do you have any proof ?", asked the
lawyer.

"Nope," replied the man.

"Okay, then write him a letter asking him for the
$1,000.00 he owed you," said the lawyer.

"But it's only $500.00!", replied the
man.

"Precisely, that's what he will reply and we will
have the proof we need," said the
lawyer.

--------------------------------------------------------------

The professor of a contract law class asked one of his
better students, "If you were to give someone an
orange, how would you go about it?".

The student replied, "Here's an
orange."

The professor was outraged. "No! No! Think like a
lawyer!"

The student then replied, "Okay. I'd tell him.....
I hereby give and convey to you all and
singular, my estate and interests, rights, claim, title,
claim and advantages of and in, said orange, together with
all its rind, juice, pulp, and seeds, and all rights and
advantages with full power to bite, cut, freeze and
otherwise eat, the same, or give

the same away with and without the pulp, juice, rind and
seeds, anything herein before or hereinafter or in any
deed, or deeds, instruments of whatever nature or kind
whatsoever to the contrary in anywise notwithstanding.

-------------------------------------------------------

A dog ran into a butcher shop and grabbed a roast off the
counter.

Fortunately, the butcher recognised the dog as belonging to
a neighbour of his. The neighbour happened to be a
lawyer.

Incensed at the theft, the butcher called up his neighbour
and
said.....
Hey, if your dog stole a roast from my butcher shop, would
you be liable for the cost of the meat???

The lawyer replied..... Of course, how much was the
roast??? "$7.98."

A few days later the butcher received a check in the mail
for $7.98.

Attached to it was an invoice that read:-

Legal Consultation Service..... $150.00

-------------------------------------------------------

The lawyer's son wanted to follow in his father's
footsteps so he went to law school. He graduated with an
honours and then went home to join his father's
firm.

At the end of his first day at work he rushed into his
father's office, and said.....

Father, father, in one day I broke the accident case that
you've been working on for ten years!!!

His father responded..... You idiot, we lived on the
funding of that case for ten years!!!

---------------------------------------------------

Have a great day!

THINGS ARE NOT ALWAYS WHAT THEY SEEM

Two travelling angels stopped to spend the night in the home of a wealthy family. The family was rude and refused to let the angels stay in the mansion's guestroom. Instead the angels were given a small space in the cold basement. As they made their bed on the hard floor, the older angel saw a hole in the wall and repaired it. When the younger angel asked why, the older angel replied, 'Things aren't always what they seem.'

The next night the pair came to rest at the house of a very poor, but very hospitable farmer and his wife. After sharing what little food they had the couple let the angels sleep in their bed where they could have a good night's rest. When the sun came up the next morning the angels found the farmer and his wife in tears. Their only cow, whose milk had been their sole income, lay dead in the field? The younger angel was infuriated and asked the older angel how could you have let this happen? The first man had everything, yet you helped him, she accused. The second family had little but was willing to share everything, and you let the cow die.

'Things aren't always what they seem,' the older angel replied. 'When we stayed in the basement of the mansion, I noticed there was gold stored in that hole in the wall. Since the owner was so obsessed with greed and unwilling to share his good fortune, I sealed the wall so he wouldn't find it.'

'

'Then last night as we slept in the farmers bed, the angel of death came for his wife. I gave him the cow instead. Things aren't always what they seem.'

'

Sometimes that is exactly what happens when things don't turn out the way they should. If you have faith, you just need to trust that every outcome is always to your advantage. You might not know it until some time later....

because..........

The Mayonnaise Jar

When things in your life seem, Almost too much to handle,
When 24 Hours in a day is not enough,
Remember the mayonnaise jar and 2 cups of coffee.

A professor stood before his philosophy class

And had some items in front of him.
When the class began, wordlessly,
He picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar
And proceeded to fill it with golf balls.

He then asked the students, if the jar was full.
They agreed that it was.

The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured
them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly.
The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls.

He then asked the students again
If the jar was full... They agreed it was.

The professor next picked up a box of sand

And poured it into the jar.. Of course, the sand filled up everything else.
He asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded
With an unanimous 'yes.'

The professor then produced Two cups of coffee from under the table
And poured the entire contents Into the jar, effectively
Filling the empty space between the sand.
The students laughed.

'Now,' said the professor, As the laughter subsided,
'I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life..
The golf balls are the important things - God, family,
children, health, friends, and favorite passions –

Things that if everything else was lost

And only they remained, your life would still be full.

The pebbles are the other things that matter Like your job, house, and car.

The sand is everything else --
The small stuff.

'If you put the sand into the jar first,' He continued,
'there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls.
The same goes for life..

If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff,
You will never have room for the things that are
Important to you.

So...

Pay attention to the things That are critical to your happiness.
Playwith your children.
Take time to get medical checkups.
Take your partner out to dinner.

There will always be time
To clean the house and fix the disposal.

'Take care of the golf balls first --
The things that really matter.
Set your priorities. The rest is just sand.'

One of the students raised her hand
And inquired what the coffee represented.

The professor smiled.
'I'm glad you asked'.

It just goes to show you that no matter how full your life may seem,
there's always room for a couple of cups of coffee with a friend.'

Please share this with other "Golf Balls"

I just did......

Brown sugar + Ginger Tea

(nice story)

心若改变,你的态度跟着改变;

态度改变,你的习惯跟着改变;

习惯改变,你的性格跟着改变;

Anger and Love have no limits

While a man was polishing his new car, his 4 yr old son picked up stone and scratched lines on the side of the car.

In anger, the man took the child's hand and hit it many times; not realizing he was using a wrench.

At the hospital, the child lost all his fingers due to multiple fractures. When the child saw his father.....with painful eyes he asked, 'Dad when will my fingers grow back?' The man was so hurt and speechless; he went back to his car and kicked it a lot of times.

Devastated by his own actions......sitting in front of that car he looked at the scratches; the child had written 'LOVE YOU DAD'.

The next day that man committed suicide. . .

Anger and Love have no limits; choose the latter to have a beautiful, lovely life.....

Things are to be used and people are to be loved But the problem in today's world is that, People are used and things are loved...let this year be careful to keep this thought in mind:

Things are to be used, but People are to be loved ...

Be yourself....This is the only day we HAVE.

Watch your thoughts; they become words.

Watch your words; they become actions.

Watch your actions; they become habits.

Watch your habits; they become character.

Watch your character; it becomes your destiny.
